Part of Super Saturday 7th March – marking International Women’s Day

BA Costume Production students at Arts University Plymouth, led by course leader Marie Dunaway, designed and created costumes that would tell Eulalia’s story. The costumes were revealed to visitors at The Box on the Super Saturday marking International Women’s Day.

Working with dramaturg and producer David Prescott, the students presented the costumes they had designed and made by hand in a living tableau. Each costume was accompanied by the reading of a new piece of writing from Women Speak Volumes South West (a writing group of older women). The two generations of women combined from two very different creative disciplines came together to imagine Eulalia’s story through distinct phases: before marriage, during marriage, and on the eve of her execution.
