Her Story: fashion and historicism in the work of Vivienne Westwood

Vivienne Westwood once said that her creative process was informed by nostalgia for the future. In this talk, Professor Claire Wilcox discussed how Westwood used her knowledge of fashion history to inform her radical designs, and reflected on curating the work of one of the most important British designers of our time. 

Westwood had used Tudor portraiture and surviving textile pieces in the V&A’s archive to inform her collection Cut, Slash & Pull.
