A wealthy widower and merchant, much older than Eulalia. During their short marriage he survived several attempts to poison him, before being attacked in his bedroom one night by Thomas Stone and Robert Priddis. The pamphlet of 1591 records he was murdered on the night of 11th February.
His burial is recorded in the St Andrew Parish Register, Plymouth, held at The Box. Also recorded in the Barnstaple Parish Register (burials), held at North Devon Records Office. Thanks to Harry Clarke, a descendant of William Page, we know he was a father when he died — his son John, from his first marriage, was just seven years old. William had four children from that earlier marriage at the time of his marriage to Eulalia.
